Jesus shared a meal.
At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and a cup and connected them to his body and the new covenant in his blood. Luke 22:14–20 places this act within a meal with his disciples.
CELCLChristian English-LanguageWorship at the centre
Christian worship gathers people to listen to Scripture, pray, sing, and respond together. CELCL hopes to grow a welcoming English-language expression of that life in Lugano. Its actual service pattern has yet to be agreed.

Why gather?
It is a shared response to God's grace.
In Christian life, worship makes room to hear the Bible, pray for one another, give thanks, and consider how love can shape ordinary life. Different churches express this in different ways. This page describes the meaning we hope to communicate; it does not promise a CELCL order of service or music style.
What a first visitor needs to know
Holy Communion
Communion is a Christian act of remembrance and thanksgiving centred on Jesus Christ. The exact way CELCL will celebrate it is for local church leaders to approve.
At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and a cup and connected them to his body and the new covenant in his blood. Luke 22:14–20 places this act within a meal with his disciples.
Paul recounts the bread and cup and says that sharing them proclaims the Lord's death until he comes. This helps explain why Christians return to Communion in gathered worship (1 Corinthians 11:23–26).
The shared bread and cup draw attention to Jesus and to the gathered community. CELCL's own Communion practice will need approved pastoral guidance.
Read the passages: Luke 22:14–20 and 1 Corinthians 11:23–26. This is an original summary, not a description of an existing CELCL Communion service.
Before a CELCL Communion
People should know what will happen before they are asked to participate. An honest visitor page should make room for someone to observe quietly, ask a question, or take part according to approved pastoral guidance.
No answer on this list is assumed for CELCL.
